You have decided it’s time to buy health insurance and it can be a very daunting task to figure out everything. Here are 10 of important factors you should consider when you choose your next health care plan.

Learning about things is what we are living here for now. So try to get to know as much about everything, including health insurance whenever possible.

Make the best use of life by learning and reading as much as possible. read about things unknown, and more about things known, like about health insurance.

1. Let’s start with the most important one first, doctors are the backbone of any health care plan and you will have to consider a few things before you grab that health care plan. If you have a family doctor that you have had for many years or someone you really trust than you will have to be sure that an continue seeing him or if you have to chose one from the listed health care providers who are on the plan you are considering. You may also have to consider whether there is a doctor close enough to where you live.

2. Pre-Existing Conditions can cause a lot of confusion because a lot of times people take this part of the health care plan for granted. Many times people don’t realize they must check and make sure how the plan deals with pre-existing conditions or they could be left out in the cold. Every insurance carrier has different pre-existing conditions that are covered so checking into that will be very important for you to do.

3. Specialists for certain medical conditions are another very important factor you may want to look into. If you use a specialist now you will want to see if he or she is in the network of approved specialists. If not, you may have to look for new one. Not every health care network will cover this in their insurance.

Thinking of life without health insurance seem to be impossible to imagine. This is because health insurance can be applied in all situations of life.

4. Emergency Care is probably one of the most important things you will need to check out. In today’s fast paced world more and more people are using emergency rooms instead of visiting their doctors. The word emergency can also get you into some trouble with your health care provider. Not every person and health care plan define emergency the same way so finding out what is covered is crucial.

5. Check ups and Physicals are usually given yearly but sometimes more often. If you getting these done often most health care plans cover them but some don’t so be sure to check into that. If you have kids you will want to make sure they are covered for checkups too.

6. Exclusions can be a gray area if you don’t have a list to go over from your health care provider. Exclusions can vary by carriers so finding what is in your plan will be very important.

7. Costs are another very important factor to compare. Once you have all the plans in front of you comparing the costs of each plan and what they offer could be the most important decision you make about your health care future.

Saying that all that is written here is all there is on health insurance would be an understatement. Very much more has to be learnt and propagated bout health insurance.

8. Prescription Drug Coverage has become one popular part of any health care plan. In today’s world prescriptions can get very expensive so coverage for this kind of medicine is extremely important. Most health care providers have co-pay for prescription drugs and some are free or at a very reduced rate. Some will pay for generic medicine and some won’t, all these all very important factors for you to consider.

9. More services are given under certain health care plans. Some of these extra services will be of no use to you; however some of them are ones that you will want to have. Some of these are mental health, nursing homes, and drug treatment to just name a few.

This is the counterpart to our previous paragraph on health insurance. Please read that paragraph to get a better understanding to this paragraph.

10. OB-GYN coverage is another important part of any health insurance plan especially if you see an obstetrician often. If you’re also considering fertility treatments you will also have to look into that when you go over your coverage. Finding out how much you will have, as an out of pocket expense is very important when you are considering OB-GYN coverage.

Even if you are a stranger in the world of health insurance, once you are through with this article, you will no longer have to consider yourself to be a stranger in it!

We find great potential in health insurance. This is the reason we have used this opportunity to let you learn the potential that lies in health insurance.

When you look at health insurance coverage there are a lot of factors you will have to consider before you can make that decision. Never rush into any decision without getting all the information you can get. Take your time and you will make a good health care decision.

Niall Roche asked:

Many people know that exercise provides numerous health benefits to the people that exercise on a regular basis, but many do not know that exercise can help them sleep better. Regular exercise has been proven to help people fall asleep quicker and stay asleep longer in many studies by researchers across the nation. Daily exercise can also correct periods of sleeplessness linked to increased stress or anxiety in the person’s life.

Experts recommend people do light to moderate exercise lasting for at least 30 minutes three or four times a week to receive the benefits of the exercise linked to sleeping better. It is important that the exercise is done in the morning or the early afternoon so that the adrenaline rush from the exercise does not interfere with the person falling asleep in the evening. Aerobic exercises are generally the best for many people because the movements are low impact and the pace of the exercise can be changed to be comfortable to the person doing the exercises.

Exercise can also increase the amount of time that the person spends in the deepest stages of sleep, also known as stage four sleep. Spending more time in deep sleep helps the person wake up feeling refreshed and well rested each morning.

Increased amounts of deep sleep during the night also can help the body feel healthier as the body is able to repair itself from the damage that occurs to it during the day. Just as exercise makes the body feel stronger with continued use, deep sleep makes the body feel more comfortable and flexible when the person awakes.

Getting the right amount of exercise is important to the health of people of all ages, from small children to seniors. In addition to strengthening the muscles and toning the body, regular exercise can reduce risk of many health conditions, some of which can cause insomnia and other sleep disorders. People that exercise regularly are hospitalized less often and require less medical attention than people that do not exercise each week.

There are many other benefits of regular exercise as well. Regular exercise can increase brain function, pump more oxygen through the body in the blood, and can increase the person’s reaction time. Regular exercise also strengthens the heart and lungs of the person reducing the risk of many serious health conditions, such as heart disease and pulmonary edema.

You don’t need to join a gym to get the exercise you need to help you sleep. As I said earlier a brisk walk in the evening for 30 minutes is enough to help you sleep and shouldn’t put a strain on your body. If you’re somewhat physicall fit I’ve found martial arts to be a great way of getting proper exercise, clearing my mind and allowing me to sleep like a baby most nights - Jiujitsu is a wonderful sleep tonic believe me. Failing that gentle swimming and light aerobics are also excellent ways of getting all over body exercise and putting your body in the mood for some well earned sleep!

Nick Mutt asked:

Exercise is an important treatment in normalizing blood glucose level in type 2 diabetes as well as in type 1 diabetes. It is also important to know the type of exercise diabetics should undertake that involve minimizing the risks and at the same time deriving maximum benefits to normalize the blood sugar and giving good health. There are mainly three types of exercises – aerobic, anaerobic and stretching exercises.

Aerobic exercises – Aerobic exercises require increased amount of oxygen for prolonged period of time. They are beneficial to both the respiratory and circulatory systems of the body. This involves prolonged, repetitive use of large muscles of the body, which increase the body’s need of oxygen. These aerobic exercises are brisk or fast walking, jogging, swimming, cycling and skipping. These exercises help improve cardiovascular fitness.

Anaerobic exercises – Exercises which are of short duration like weight lifting and sprinting that is short distance but top speed running. They strengthen the muscles but are of little help to the cardiovascular system. These exercises are out of bounds for the people with diabetes, as many dangers are involved to them.

Stretching exercises – The stretching exercises are designed to strengthen the joints in the body and to improve their flexibility. They include the activities like yoga. They are useful as warming up or getting prepared for a more strenuous and prolonged period of exercise and also at the end as a cooling down exercise. They are also helpful to the joints and muscles of the body.

These exercises improve blood sugar regulation by increasing sensitivity to insulin, so that the body makes the optimum use of insulin. They also give an overall feeling of well being. The diabetic can select any of the following exercises involving aerobic activities like walking with moderate speed for about half an hour, jogging, if desired and possible, but one has to be cautious; cycling – stationary or outdoor and swimming.

While doing any of the above exercises, it is advisable to have 5 minutes of stretching exercises, both before the start of the exercise and at the end.

Isometric Exercise Discussed

What is Isometric Exercise?

Isometric exercise is practiced by pushing or pulling an immovable object like a wall or bar anchored to the floor. Research has shown that a muscle contraction during Isometric exercise produced more force then a contraction generated by lifting weights. Although research shows that Isometric exercise increases muscle tension significantly, it still fails to change the length of the muscles. Today, it is primarily used for rehabilitation purposes.

Advantages of Isometric Exercise

Can achieve maximum muscular contraction as opposed to Isotonic exercise also known as weight training.

Workout is much faster. You would hold a position for each set for 6 to 8 seconds and do 5 – 10 sets per exercise. So you can do each body part in as little as a minute or so presuming a few seconds rest between sets.

Can gain strength. Unfortunately, you will only strengthen very isolated areas of the muscle group.

Disadvantages of Isometric Exercise

Decreased muscular endurance. When you lift weights (Isotonic exercise) blood is pumped into the muscles very frequently increasing muscular endurance. Isometric exercise does not generate the same blood flow, thereby potentially reducing muscular endurance.

Building strength during a static contraction can potentially reduce the speed of the muscle response. This would slow down your athletic performance.

Boring, boring, boring. Go to the wall and press against it for a few sets. It’s like standing in the corner during elementary school. You must enjoy something to maintain consistency at it, and few could enjoy Isometric exercise.

Increased blood pressure. Isometric exercise increases blood pressure more than any other form of exercise. This could lead to a ruptured blood vessel or irregular heartbeat.

The strength gains achieved during Isometric exercise occur only within 20 degrees of the angle you hold. Lifting weights (Isotonic exercise) allows you to build strength throughout the entire range of motion.

The Lowdown on Isometric Exercise

Unless you are locked in a room with nothing else to do, I think you will find these exercises particularly boring. Although in an empty room you could still do push-ups and sit-ups and some other stuff. Anyway if you want to experiment with Isometric exercises you should not make that the only form of resistance training you do. The benefits of weight training appear to significantly outweigh those of Isometric exercise.

In summary, weight training will do the following things better than Isometric exercise:

• Increase the length of your muscles • Strengthen the full range of your muscles • Increase muscular endurance • Lower the risk of heart related issues.

Final thoughts: To be most effective and achieve maximum muscle growth incorporate both training protocols in your training. The use of a “post isometric contraction” has been proven to increase strength and muscle size by more than 302.3%.

CharlesPeter asked:

An individual health insurance cover, simply stated, is an agreement between you and the insurance firm, aimed at protecting you against any financial constraints on account of a medical emergency. The one pertinent question you need to ask yourself is -what are the factors to be analyzed before deciding on an individual health insurance policy?

It is indeed a fact that medical and preventive sciences have made rapid advancements in today’s world. Nonetheless, it would be prudent to arm yourself with the best individual health insurance cover to protect yourself against any unforeseen illness. Indeed, America’s best health insurance companies are vying with one another in putting together some of the most imaginative individual health insurance policies designed to overcome any medical contingency. If you are unemployed, or self-employed, an individual health insurance policy is the right choice.

Consult with your insurance company if you can have your individual health insurance policy incorporated in its group policy. You may be paying a higher rate but the terms would be more advantageous than if you had to buy your own individual health insurance policy. If you are married, find out if your spouse’s employer is willing to include you in its group policy. If you are left with no option, then it is wise to buy an individual health insurance policy. Even though the insurance cover may be limited and the rates high, you would still be ensuring protection for yourself or your family against financial problems if you are suddenly confronted with a serious illness or medical emergency. Search for a good health insurance professional to help you with the best individual health insurance policy that offers you good value for money.

You have plenty of choices while selecting individual health insurance plans - The PPO Plan or the Preferred Provider Organization, the HMO Plan or the Health Maintenance Organization, the HDHP or the High Deductible Health Insurance and HAS or the Health Savings Accounts Qualified High Deductible Plan.

When considering individual health insurance plans a worthwhile option may be a health savings account plan which has few unique benefits. With individual health insurance plans, you can trade lower deductible health insurance for a plan that has a higher deductible. This will help you save money each month by lowering your premium. Besides the lower cost, higher deductible health savings account plan also has the added benefit of a tax favored savings account. Yet another interesting aspect of these individual health insurance plans is that the money you save rolls over year after year.

Even if you are already covered by your employer’s insurance scheme, you may still need to get additional coverage through an individual health insurance plan. This becomes necessary because employer-sponsored programs often fall short of individual needs. Extensive coverage for self and family can be achieved through a separate individual health insurance plan.

Individual health insurance plans are of two types: - Indemnity plans - Managed care plans. Indemnity plans are costlier but best suited for those who have particular health issues and need to be treated by specific doctors. Managed care plans cost less because you will be visiting a doctor or a hospital that is provided under the plan. If the treatment requires you to visit a specialist, you will need special permission from the insurance service provider. This plan is best suited for individuals without specific health problems, and wanting to pay less.

Golf Exercises to Increase the Power, Speed, and Distance of Your Tee Shots

Sean Cochran asked:

Golf exercises used correctly can increase the power, speed, and distance of your tee shots. Through the utilization of what I call golf power exercises the reality of increased distance of your tee shots can occur. I have discussed power relative to developing club head speed in previous articles. If you recall clubhead speed is contingent upon power development in your body, and golf fitness exercises can increase club head speed through increasing the power outputs of your body.

An additional component exists relative to your body, power development, and clubhead speed. The additional component we are talking about is speed. Yes, speed is a critical component of increasing power in your golf swing, and directly related to all of your golf fitness power exercises. Remember, power is the ability of the body to create the greatest amount of force in the shortest amount of time possible. (Vladimir Zatsiorsky, Professor, Department of Exercise and Sport Science, Penn State Univeristy)

If we take this piece of information, the additional information we know about golf fitness training, and incorporate them into our exercises. The exercises within the power development section of our program must be executed at a high rate of speed.

This accomplishes over time the ability of our bodies to generate more force in the shortest amount of time possible. This allows our body to generate more power within the mechanics of the golf swing. The end result is increased cluhead speed, and when the clubhead is traveling at a faster rate at impact with the golf ball. The golf ball has the potential to travel a longer distance (remember swing mechanics also play a part.)

A simple concept once broken down step-by-step but let’s make sure we all understand how to implement speed into our golf fitness exercises. Take the example of the Medicine Ball Side-to-Side Exercise. Speed of movement is a very important component of this exercise.

The Side-to-Side Medicine Ball Rotation requires you to rotate back and forth maintaining the “athletic position” of the exercise. In order to induce a power developing effect the exercise should be executed as fast as possible. This elicits the development of power in the muscles of the core. If-and-only if the form of the exercise is maintained. If you find yourself loosing your technique as you increase the speed of the exercise. Slow it down a little and increase the speed as your body becomes stronger.

Remember, golf exercises in the the specific form of golf power exercises can improve your golf swing, and distance of tee shots. It is through these types of golf fitness exercises within a comprehensive golf training program increased power and speed can occur. Power outputs from the body have a direct effect on clubhead speed. Increase the power outputs of your body and you can drive the golf ball farther. And remember speed is a component of power and must be a principle involved in your golf fitness power exercises.

Sean Cochran is one of the most recognized golf fitness instructors in the world today. He travels the PGA Tour regularly working with professional golfers, most notable PGA and Masters Champion Phil Mickelson. Choosing a Ferret Diet: is a Natural Diet Right for Your Ferret?

Kristen Onasch asked:

Until the last 40 years, ferrets were fed what we refer to as a “natural diet,” which was similar to the diet of the domestic ferret’s wild ancestors. In recent years as ferrets have become more popular, they have been fed commercially prepared ferret, cat, and kitten diets. While this is convenient for us as owners, is it what our ferrets were meant to eat? What exactly is a natural diet, and what are the benefits and concerns associated with it?

FERRETS ARE CARNIVORES

Ferrets are obligate carnivores, which means that they get their nutrients from a diet high in animal protein and fat. Their diet must be a meat diet, because they are unable to digest vegetable protein. They need food that is very low in carbohydrates, and they get their energy from animal fat. This is why proponents of a natural diet argue that ferrets’ bodies are actually designed for a whole prey or raw meat diet.

Ferrets have a short GI tract populated with simple organisms, and they don’t absorb nutrients as well as other animals can. They are intended to eat food that provides them with a highly concentrated fat content (calories for energy) and highly digestible meat proteins for maximum nutrition.

While there are a number of high quality ferret kibbles available today, many of them contain a high number of grains, corn, and other sources of filler material in addition to vegetable protein. Ferrets who eat diets with excessive vegetable protein can suffer from poor skin and coat quality, decreased growth rates, bladder stones and other conditions.

Insulinoma is also a concern, as a high level of carbohydrates in a ferret’s diet puts too much stress on the pancreas. While there is no definitive proof that a diet high in carbohydrates causes insulinoma, it just is not healthy for the beta cells in the pancreas to be overworked. When beta cells work too hard, they become overactive (hypertrophied) and either burn out (stop working altogether) or go to neoplasia (cancer).

MYTHS ASSOCIATED WITH A NATURAL DIET

Before I explore what feeding a natural diet entails, there are a few widespread misconceptions associated with feeding whole prey or raw meat that need to be addressed.

First and most importantly, your ferret will not turn into an aggressive wild animal if you feed a raw diet! Kim Schilling, author of Ferrets for Dummies, draws a great parallel. She points out that cats are great hunters and, at times, vicious hunters, playing with their prey before killing it. They kill countless mice, birds, rabbits, and other wildlife throughout their lives, yet they still remain sweet and cuddly companion animals that are perfectly happy to sit in your lap, purring and allowing themselves to be petted. It is not going to be any different with ferrets. Eating raw meat isn’t going to transform your sweet little girl into a vicious killer.

Many ferret owners point out that diseases could be passed from the prey animal to the ferret. If you are feeding your ferret the dead mouse from your mousetrap, the spread of disease is very likely. However, there are a number of reputable sources for humanely killed, frozen prey animals, and as long as you stick to getting prey from those sources, your ferret should be fine.

Another misconception is that to feed a natural diet, you must feed live prey. This is not true, nor is it even recommended. While some ferrets may be able to catch and kill their prey, the majority are going to take time to adjust to a natural diet, let alone be able to hunt for their own food. Ferrets are fully domesticated after all! Also, if you were to feed live animals, you also risk your ferret being bitten by the prey animal. The point of feeding whole prey is not to allow your ferret to hunt live animals, it is to provide a nutritious diet.

TYPES OF NATURAL DIETS

I will discuss two types of natural diets in this article - a whole prey diet and a raw carnivore diet. Bones and meat are the staples of a natural diet, regardless of which type you choose to feed.

Whole Prey Diet

A whole prey diet is the most balanced natural diet, and it refers to feeding ferrets pre-killed, frozen prey such as mice, rats and chicks. Ferrets have teeth that are designed for cutting meat and bone, so whole prey provides them with the necessary exercise for teeth and jaws and cleans their teeth and gums. Whole prey also gives your ferret the chance to experience a variety of tastes and textures, so it’s enriching as well.

Raw Carnivore Diet

Another natural diet option is a raw carnivore diet, which is a good alternative for ferret owners who are hesitant to feed prey animals to their ferrets. Raw carnivore diets can include commercially prepared diets that contain meat, organs, and bones. They can also include raw or cooked meat like chicken wings, raw liver or hearts, and other similar foods. If you are trying to find a raw carnivore diet, look for one that contains all parts of the animal (meat, bone, cartilage, organs) and meat suitable for human consumption. It must be high in fat and protein.

One thing a natural diet is not is just raw or cooked meat. If you feed your ferret only chicken, she will not get the nutrients that she needs. Bones, organs and other parts contain amino acids, calcium, fatty acids, iron and other essential vitamins and minerals that your ferret needs for a balanced, nutritious diet.

PROS & CONS OF NATURAL DIETS

As with any practice, there are both pros and cons associated with feeding ferrets a natural diet. If you are contemplating a natural diet, you should consider this list closely, and speak with your veterinarian about any concerns you may have.

Benefits of a natural diet include:

Automatically well balanced diet.

Closest diet possible to what your ferret would eat in the wild.

High in moisture (unlike kibble).

Fewer incidents of hairballs and obstructions because of the variation in food consistencies.

Protein and fat sources are high quality.

Because you design your ferret’s diet, you have more control over what your ferret eats.

Owners who feed a natural diet report that their ferrets have more energy, plusher coats, better overall dental health, and smaller stools with less of an odor.

Ferrets in countries that feed a natural diet have significantly lower incidences of insulinomas.

Concerns associated with a natural diet include:

Must be done correctly or the ferret will become malnourished.

Can be difficult to switch your ferret over to a natural diet.

Slight possibility of choking on bones or internal injury from bones.

Bacteria or parasites could be present if the whole prey isn’t from a reputable source.

Food must be handled carefully or you risk salmonella or e. coli contamination.

Can be expensive and inconvenient.

FEEDING A NATURAL DIET

Before you do anything, it is very important to speak with your veterinarian. Your veterinarian will determine what your ferret’s nutritional needs are and how healthy your ferret is. Switching foods, especially from a commercial dry kibble diet to a natural diet, can be stressful on a ferret, and you need to make sure your ferret is up to the change. You may need to limit his access to kibble for short periods of time to get him to try the prey or meat, so you will need to make sure that your ferret is not insulinomic and his blood glucose levels are stable. Finally, it’s important to keep your veterinarian abreast of any changes in your ferret’s care, as it can affect how he or she will treat your ferret.

As with any diet change, switching to a natural diet should be done gradually. There may be a point where you have to completely remove your ferret’s kibble, effectively forcing him to try the new food, but this should not be done right away. Start out by giving your ferret meat and meat gravy or broth baby food, if you aren’t already, to get him used to eating meat. Once your ferret will eat baby food, you can try giving him some chicken. Move from that to chicken wings, either cooked or raw. Remember, any meat you give your ferret must be free of spices and sauces. Your ferret needs nutrients, not zesty barbecue flavor! Whether or not you feed the meat raw depends on your comfort levels. Once your ferret is comfortable with meat, you can continue to give that to him or you can try whole prey. (If you decide to feed your ferret whole prey, make sure it is fully defrosted.)

If your ferret is refusing to try the meat, here are a few things you can try:

Drizzle FerreTone on the meat, chicken wing, whole prey, or whatever else you’re trying to feed him.

Be creative with the meat you give him - if he won’t eat straight meat, try mixing cut up pieces of it with kibble.

Use the juices that come from the meat and pour it over their kibble to get them used to the new taste.

You will find that some ferrets are much more easily converted to a natural diet than others. Younger ferrets generally have a quicker transition because they aren’t quite as imprinted on their food as older ferrets are. However, whether you’re trying to switch over your six month old ferret or your six year old ferret, be patient and remember that different ferrets will like different things.

There is a difference of opinion as to whether all ferrets can be switched to a natural diet. There are some owners who advise removing all kibbles, forcing the ferret to eat the meat, because they believe that all ferrets can be switched over. There are others who will only try until it’s obvious that the ferret would rather starve than eat the meat. How you go about switching your ferret and how hard you are willing to push is something that you will need to decide for yourself after discussing it thoroughly with your veterinarian.

If you are able to successfully switch your ferret over, be sure to give him a variety of different animals, meats, or other dietary components. The key to doing a natural diet properly is feeding a combination of different foods. Ferrets wouldn’t eat only mice in the wild - they would eat anything they could catch - so they shouldn’t just eat mice at your house either. You may also want to continue feeding kibble if you are feeding a raw carnivore diet.

A NOTE ABOUT NATURAL VS. COMMERCIAL DIETS

The point of this article is not to prove that the ferret food industry is evil. While there are ferret diets out there that are not as good as they could be, there are also manufacturers who strive to provide healthy, nutritious diets for our ferrets and work on developing great new foods. Likewise, if you choose to feed a kibble diet, you are not a bad ferret parent. You just need to be aware of the ingredients in the food and what the protein and fat sources are.

It is important you understand that there is no hard evidence a natural diet is better than a kibble diet or vice versa. Much of the information available as to how either diet affects our ferrets is anecdotal, based entirely on ferret owners’ personal experiences. Every ferret owner needs to decide what diet will be best for his or her ferret after doing research and discussing the options with an experienced ferret veterinarian.
